Why is attic insulation important? Proper insulation reduces heat flow to lower both your heating and cooling costs, and keep your home comfortable year-round. The Department of Energy has insulation standards for different zones throughout the U.S. based on climate and location. These standards are set by R-values, which measure an insulating material’s resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-value, the better the insulating capacity, and the less work your HVAC unit has to do.
For homes located throughout Tampa Bay and Central Florida, the Department of Energy suggests R-38 to R-60 attic insulation. We want to make sure your insulation is at least up to code, but preferably meeting that R-60 value for maximum efficiency.
You can trust Tampa solar company Super Solar’s insulation professionals to properly prep and install your attic insulation to help you lower your energy bill, and in effect, gain more affordable solar.
We offer three types of attic insulation installation:
Having the right level of insulation is important for a healthy, efficient home. If you have cellulose-type material, it can settle and deteriorate after a while, so it may be time for freshly blown-in insulation.
Radiant Barrier Insulation
This product can reduce radiant heat by up to 90% and lower the temperature in your attic by up to 50%! It’s the most effective insulation for certain types of attics and home designs. Your energy efficiency consultant will recommend it if it’s right for your home.
Radiant barriers must be properly installed to be effective, so you’ll want to make sure you use a certified insulation contractor – like Super Solar!
Be advised: not all radiant barrier insulation is created equally! We use Copperflect, as it offers a lifetime manufacturer’s warranty, will never oxidize or corrode, and can reduce up to 98% of radiant heat in your attic! Copperflect is the best radiant barrier insulation to maximize energy efficiency and even-out room temperatures throughout your home, in our opinion.
Spray Foam or Injected Foam Insulation
Spray foam insulation is one of the most energy efficient products on the market – it can reduce your electric bill by more than 20%! However, for safety reasons, we only install this material in all-electric homes, and it is not suitable for many applications.
