They don’t call us the sunshine state for nothing! With solar’s increasing popularity in Florida, Super Solar wants to make sure you take advantage of all that solar has to offer.
Each year, The Southern Alliance for Clean Energy (SACE) puts out the Solar in the Southeast report. As an advocate for clean energy tracking, the SACE promotes state comparisons on a number of topics like megawatts of solar installed and policy. SACE also calculates and shares installed solar capacity per customer for states and utilities.
Within the report, it’s evident that the growing popularity of solar in Florida will only continue to rise. According to the 2019 report findings, Florida is slated to become #1 in the Southeast for total solar power capacity. Locally, Duke Energy and Tampa Electric are pacing to have the highest growth in solar watts per customer among major Southeastern utilities. Both of these utility companies offer net metering programs, where any excess solar energy produced from your system can be sent back to the grid for credit on future utility bills.
